Expansion
Over its long history, Delta Phi has maintained one of the most conservative expansion policies of any national fraternity. We believe firmly that the college fraternity is an intimate, personal experience best shared amongst men of the highest character and caliber.
For over 180 years Delta Phi has selected chapters only at the nation’s finest universities, with a preference to those in proximity to existing chapters and with significant regional alumni support.
Among our small brotherhood we count titans of industry and finance, prominent men of faith, athletes, and scholars. And leading statesman, governors, soldiers and senators.
Delta Phi has two goals for current expansion:
To reactivate dormant chapters; and To colonize new chapters consistent with our historic values.Colonization
Colonizing a new chapter is an exciting but arduous task. While Delta Phi is very selective about the circumstances for establishing a new chapter, we are very supportive of selected chapters and provide a coordinated effort to ensure a positive outcome and a strong footing for new chapters. We welcome all inquiries.
Below are some of the factors that our Selection Committee considers in evaluating proposals for new colonies.
University caliber and demographics
In keeping with our tradition, our focus is to establish chapters only at schools with the highest academic standards. The Committee will also evaluate the school size and Greek life environment in considering an application.Institutional support
It is our intent to ensure active participation with University Administrators throughout the colonization process and to encourage an ongoing, positive working relationship between the chapter and the University.theAlumni support
We strive to involve local alumni when establishing new chapters to provide undergraduates with guidance, support and a concrete sense of the traditions of Delta Phi.Character of the applicants
Consistent with our traditions and membership, we recruit young men of character and talent. The Committee will consider the size, year, GPA, and campus leadership activities of the group as part of its review.
